SAINT SAUVEUR - Millésime 2015

These red wines, made from old Syrah vines, are remarkable for their maturity, which gives them an intense red colour with purple, violet or ruby nuances. One finds a great concentration and aromatic complexity with an expressive and elegant nose with intense aromas.
The year 2015 was marked by a particularly dry spring. From March onwards, rainfall was low and diminished as summer approached, giving way to heat waves during the summer. A work of restructuring the size of the vineyard coupled with a dry spring resulted in a small harvest and an early harvest. However, the sanitary state of the grapes and a sufficient maturity were at the rendezvous.
The vintage was marked by an exceptional particularity, that of an advanced maturity on all the grape varieties, since the harvest took place between August 17th and September 4th, ending with Mourvèdre, a late grape variety. This barrel is quite new compared to the history of the last few years. Although the 2015 production is low, the vinification was carried out to optimize this quality vintage.

Tasting notes
Directed by Brother Marie, Cellar Master
Vintage 2015, tasted in August 2016 brut de fus and vats, en primeurs.
A dark garnet robe, intense and limpid with inky purple reflections that betray its young age. The first nose invites respect for this great wine with an aromatic finesse on violet, black berries such as blackberry and blueberry. On the palate, the chiselled and silky tannins are supported by a beautiful acidity and powerful aromas. The spicy, slightly peppery and leathery notes as well as those of blueberries fill the mouth. The length on the palate is incredible and the finish fresh.
The nose brings aromas of redcurrant evolving on raspberry and finishing on prune, slightly velvety.
The palate is fresh, lively, ample with a myriad of small delicate tannins.
