Saint Salonius 2019

A delicate carmine colour with ruby highlights adorns this cuvée. The first nose is delicate. Intense, deep aromas of redcurrant, violet and a hint of tobacco. When brought to the lips, this fine beverage reveals a delight of fleshy fruit, greedy freshness and the silky tannins of a racy, unique pinot noir matured under the Mediterranean sun, a tribute to the distant Burgundy hillsides sublimated by Cistercian monks.

2019 was a hot, dry vintage around the Mediterranean. After a rainy 2018, winter 2019 was very mild. Budburst was early but fairly even. The scorching summer, with some rain, enabled the grapes to ripen peacefully without too much water stress. The early-harvested grapes revealed excellent organoleptic qualities in the cellar. The good health of the grapes enabled us to achieve optimum ripeness and powerful, silky tannins.
