Cuvée Saint Honorat 2018 (Syrah)
The year 2018 was a very atypical vintage on the Mediterranean rim. Very rainy during spring and early summer. It required constant vigilance in the plots. From the beginning of July onwards, drier and warmer weather allowed the grapes to ripen peacefully. Grapes harvested a little late revealed great organoleptic qualities in the cellar. A beautiful liveliness and a fresh aroma of red berries are the characteristics of this vintage.
All this favoured a very good harvest in terms of volume ! and quality. The wine is finer, suppler and silkier than other vintages. You can drink it now or wait a little.
Tasting notes : rated 87/100 by Pablo Basso, best sommelier in the world 2013 :
- Dense garnet colour with yellowish tints.
Discreet nose with aromas of black pepper, aromatic herbs, tobacco leaves, leather and graphite.
The attack in the mouth is harmonious and reveals a light structure, a linear and discreet style with tannins well rounded by time. The finish brings out notes of dry hay and sweet spices, as well as a nice freshness.
